Tate & Lyle included in FT/Statista Europe Climate Leaders List 2024

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, (16 May 2024): Tate & Lyle PLC, a world leader in ingredient solutions for healthier food and beverages, is pleased to be recognised as one of Europe's Climate Leaders by the Financial Times in a report published today reflecting the significant actions the Company is taking to tackle the impacts of climate change.

The report is compiled by the Financial Times in partnership with data provider Statista. It sets out the 600 European companies that have demonstrated the most substantial reduction in their Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity* over a five-year period (2017-22), as well as taking into account collaboration with organisations such as the Science Based Targets Initiative and CDP.

Tate & Lyle has committed to the following near-term GHG emissions reduction targets: 

Energy and Industrial    

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 38% by 2028 from a 2019 base year.1 
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 38% by 2028 from a 2019 base year. 

Forests, Land and Agriculture (FLAG)

  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 FLAG GHG emissions by 23% by 2028 from a 2019 base year.2 
  • Commitment to no deforestation across our primary deforestation-linked commodities by 31 December 2025.

 

1 - The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.

2 - The target includes Forests Land and Agriculture (FLAG) emissions and removals. 

 

Earlier this month, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated Tate & Lyle’s new 2028 greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in line with a 1.5°C trajectory.
