At Tate & Lyle Lübeck, we are committed to creating a place where everyone can grow their career and progress in line with their ambitions. We are designing the workplace of the future where people of all profiles and levels of experience – the greatest minds and the greatest talent – come together to create even more value and add meaning to the core of our work, our purpose of Improving Lives for Generations.

Tate & Lyle Lubeck, Germany

For the beautiful word begets the beautiful deed. ~ Thomas Mann, German novelist from Lübeck; Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature

Our scientists are changing food for the better, and our work is improving people’s health around the world thanks to our exceptional expertise in sauces, condiments, beverages, dairy, baby food, bakery products, chocolate and confectionary.

Our Lübeck site is our oldest site in Europe, built on the great tradition of G. C. Hahn & Co, founded in 1848 in beautiful Northern Germany, on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Known as one of the prettiest towns in Germany, Lübeck boasts charming architecture, abundant culture, and its world-famous marzipan. The city's proud symbol is the Holsten Gate, while its centre is Germany's most extensive UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Weaving our past into the future and boldly stepping forward, we are transforming our Lübeck site to become our new regional innovation centre that will take our category strategies to the next level by enhancing our capabilities and driving even more innovation.

Through this hub, we aim to establish a broader range of technical capabilities and enable cross-category, solution-driven teamwork, creating an environment that encourages creative thinking and new ideas, both internally and with customers.

This innovation centre for Tate & Lyle Europe will enable the next level of growth in the region and deliver an enhanced customer experience. It will be connected to all our European and global sites through the latest technology supporting virtual collaboration, allowing our scientists and experts to connect in real time with their colleagues in other locations. The Lübeck site, as a purpose-built facility, includes a lab and pilot plant, an analytical and sensory centre, an onsite training centre and offices. Now we are expanding our lab and pilot plant, further enhancing our analytical and sensory centre, and adding new meeting space.

Our pilot plant and our food processing equipment ensure that the production of prototypes is safe, flexible and quick, providing real-time customer support and an exceptional customer experience.

While the analytical lab enables us to examine our ingredients and stabiliser solutions for their physical and chemical properties, and to truly understand their characteristics and solve customer manufacturing challenges, our sensory programme helps us assess how ingredients are perceived in food formulations, creating different levels of sweetness, acceptability, texture and flavour in products we help make.

Our Innovation Centre in Lübeck is a centre of excellence and a learning hub for all existing and future food experts and scientists – members of our technical service, sensory, pilot plant, process, and chemistry and analytical teams – all working together to generate ideas, drive innovation, solve challenges and create opportunities. The Lübeck hub connects people to explore and implement innovative solutions, and to encourage creativity and blue-sky thinking.

Unlocking the future phases of growth in our region is a very exciting and inspiring stage for our team in Lübeck, for our wider European team, and Tate & Lyle as a whole.
