GoodTruck Brazil works with distributors and supermarkets to rescue food that would be wasted and, with the help of volunteer action, allocates meals and food baskets to help feed people in four Brazilian communities.
Recently, a group of 17 Tate & Lyle colleagues participated for the fourth time in a volunteer event with the GoodTruck organisation. The group learned to prepare a vegan feijoada, a traditional Brazilian stew made of black beans, with rescued vegetables under the guidance of Adriana Virgínio, a local leader who grew up in the area.
In total, 127 hours were donated and 250+ meals were prepared for delivery to help make a positive impact in the local community.
One of Tate & Lyles's pillars of purpose is building thriving communities. Participating in this event brings us closer to our goal of providing more than 3 million nutritious meals to people in need by 2025.

The first three volunteer events with GoodTruck were in virtual format, where food was received at the volunteer’s home and everyone cooked together remotely. This year, our colleagues were able to walk through the local community with Adriana to see the need to prevent hunger first-hand. This in-person experience greatly energised the team to make sure that -- for that day and that moment – they were delivering happiness in each and every meal prepared.
