A partnership to celebrate

Volunteers in Dayton Ohio

This March we’re especially pleased to be celebrating three years of supporting nutritious meals for students and neighbours in need, with The Foodbank Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, US.

What started with our local team reaching out to help in the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes in May 2019, has since developed into a partnership that’s helped us to share almost 200,000 meals with the community.

"We started with volunteerism, and through that initial action, we learned more about hunger near our Dayton facility," says Jennifer Walker, Director, Global Community Relations. "Specifically, hunger in students and neighbours around Kiser Elementary School. We wanted to do more beyond the immediate need, and from that grew our backpack and school pantry support.

"These past two years, we’ve continued to develop our programs with The Foodbank. In 2020/21, we’ve provided The Foodbank with two rounds of COVID-19 emergency donations as well as focused in on additional backpack and Mobile Farmer’s Market projects for the coming year.

Lee Truesdale, Chief Development Officer for The Foodbank, Inc. said: "We thank Tate & Lyle for being an ongoing and vibrant partner in our work. We look forward to the day when we are back volunteering together – having fun while continuing to support our community with nutritious meals."
